We had 175 head of livestock checked in- several bottle babies goats and sheep, mixed goats, some hair sheep, a few wool sheep.  Some really good slick stuff and some needing moe groceries.   For consignment sale we had a lot of poultry- roosters, hen, ducks, hatching eggs, baby chicks, and some farm stuff.  Had a good crowd and more new people checking us out.  Thank you for coming to out sale.

Market Transaction averages below.  This is an average/ by species/ by sex/ no head/ ave weight/ average price per CWT/ ave price by head/ if they went up or down from last sale and by how much in cents per pound/best price by pound at weight. NC means no change and NT means- no test- nothing to compare to last sale. NGT means not good test as we may have only had 1 to compare to or weights way different.  BB means bottle babies- under 20#.  Gives price averages but you cannot tell quality of animal just by prices.  In pairs means sold with doe  or ewe- could be 1 or 2 kids. This sale quality was at both ends of spectrum.  Some really slick nice fat livestock and some very thin livestock.

If it’s a good breed, pretty color, slick, fat it will bring top price.  People are looking for QUALITY breeding stock or good meat products.  Excellent quality is bringing top prices. Skinny, old, sickly the prices drop off petty fast.  We had a bunch of stuff this time that needed more groceries.  Really affects the averages. Still depends on demand as to where prices go. I go to these livestock shows and see the judges pick the biggest for a market animal.  While most of the time the market price per pound is better on the lighter stuff- provided its fat slick and has meat on the bones.
